Long Island officers caught on video violently striking driver during traffic stop

WESTBURY (WABC) -- Two Nassau County police officers are under investigation after video surfaced that showed them violently striking a driver during a traffic stop.

Now, Kyle Howell, a 20-year-old drug suspect facing multiple charges, is filing a lawsuit against the officers.

The Westbury man says he has been repeatedly pulled over by cops, these two in particular.

The videotaped incident took place on April 25, when the officers pulled him over for having a cracked windshield. A nearby surveillance camera was rolling as the officers began to punch and knee him.

BBC Caught Staging Syria Chemical Weapons Propaganda?

Former Ambassador labels video ?stunning fakery?
Paul Joseph Watson

Within 2 hours of posting this story, the BBC filed a copyright claim with YouTube to get the 45 second clip removed. This shows how nervous the BBC is about this information coming to light. News organizations routinely rely on dubious copyright claims to censor damaging revelations. An copy of the video via LiveLeak is embedded below.

A video of a BBC interview with a doctor in Syria in the aftermath of a napalm-style attack appears to have been artificially dubbed to falsely make reference to the incident being a ?chemical weapons? attack, a clip that represents ?a stunning bit of fakery,? according to former UK Ambassador Craig Murray.

The news report was first released on August 29, just days before an attack on Syria seemed inevitable, and served to further the narrative that military action was necessary to halt atrocities being committed by President Bashar Al-Assad?s forces.

The first clip is from the original interview with British medic Dr Rola Hallam, from the Hand in Hand for Syria charity. She states;

"..It's just absolute chaos and carnage here, erm we've had a massive influx of
what looks like serious burns, er seems like it must be some sort of, I'm not
really sure, maybe napalm, something similar to that.."

However, in the second clip, which is from the exact same interview, her words are slightly altered.

"..It's just absolute chaos and carnage here, erm we've had a massive influx of
what looks like serious burns, er seems like it must be some sort of chemical
weapon, I'm not really sure.."

The second clip seems to have been artificially dubbed to characterize the event as a ?chemical weapon? attack rather than an incendiary bomb attack. Hallam?s mouth is hidden by a mask, making the dub impossible to detect without referring to the original clip.

The clip has sparked frenzied analysis by numerous Internet users, who point out that the background noise in the clip that uses the ?chemical weapon? quote is different from the original. The BBC has been asked to explain the discrepancy but has so far not responded.

?I suspect the motive in this instance and others by the BBC are propaganda intended to affect public opinion in the UK in such a way as to congregate support and underpin an offensive against the Syrian government,? writes one user who closely analyzed the audio.

In a?subsequent BBC interview, Dr Rola Hallam complained about the UK Parliament?s refusal to authorize a military strike on Syria. Hallam?s father is also on the Syrian National Council, the political body which represents opposition militants.

Hallam?s bias in supporting military action while working for a charity in Syria and being linked to the FSA makes the video clip all the more intriguing. It also explains why the BBC, which has aggressively pushed for military intervention in Syria from the beginning, is apparently using her to stage propaganda.

Former British Ambassador to Uzbekistan Craig Murray said the video represented, ?Irrefutable evidence of a stunning bit of fakery by the BBC,? adding that the woman?s words could have been faked in their entirety.

?The disturbing thing is the footage of the doctor talking is precisely the same each time. It is edited so as to give the impression the medic is talking in real time in her natural voice -- there are none of the accepted devices used to indicate a voiceover translation. But it must be true that in at least one, and possibly both, the clips she is not talking in real time in her own voice. It is very hard to judge as her mouth and lips are fully covered throughout. Perhaps neither of the above is what she actually said.?

?Terrible things are happening all the time in Syria's civil war, between Assad's disparate forces and still more disparate opposition forces, and innocent people are suffering. There are dreadful crimes against civilians on all sides. I have no desire at all to downplay or mitigate that. But once you realise the indisputable fact of the fake interview the BBC has put out, some of the images in this video begin to be less than convincing on close inspection too.?

A link to Murray?s blog on the issue was also tweeted by Wikileaks, the whistleblower organization, under the headline,? BBC puts out fake video with Syrian medic claiming chemical weapons.?

This would by no means be the first time that evidence of war crimes has been staged in order to lay the blame on Bashar Al-Assad?s forces.

As we have previously highlighted, there are numerous videos showing supporters of the western backed FSA staging fake injuries and deaths for propaganda purposes.

The video showing Dr Rola in each case is different ? see the man just behind her in the fluorescent jacket, his arms are in a different position. The audio does sound exactly the same to me except for the change of words. The only other explanation, given the video is different, is that they took several takes. In any case that is just as fraudulent in what we?re supposed to believe is a chaotic situation where she needs to attend to patients.

Deputies Caught Dumping Name Tags

You know a police force is bent when its officers start dumping their name tags. That's what happened before an illegal traffic stop in Malheur County, Oregon. The Malheur County Sheriff's Department has a sweetheart deal with the infamously cruel Big Loop Rodeo, in the remote and dying town of Jordan Valley, Oregon.

Article link: http://www.boiseweekly.com/CityDesk/archives/2013/08/15/video-animal-rights-activist-traffic-stop-subject-of-fbi-probe

The traffic stop was illegal, but prompted by the Big Loop Rodeo board, because the board members are afraid of being exposed for committing terrible animal abuse. As their own police dash camera proves, the deputies knew what they were doing was wrong, but they did it anyway. They apparently believed that hiding their identities would help protect their misdeeds.

Apparently these guys need to watch more John Wayne movies. The crooks are supposed to wear scarves over their faces, not take off their badges.

Oregon Deputies Caught on Dash Cam Acknowledging Illegal Traffic Stop

By Carlos Miller

Here is a perfect example of why we should all learn the public records law in our respective states and use them to our full advantage.

Last May, animal rights activist Steve Hindi was kicked out of an Oregon rodeo for trying to video record after they had hastily posted up signs saying it was not allowed, then announcing on the loudspeaker that only locals would be allowed to video record.

Hindi, founder of Showing Animals Respect and Kindness (SHARK), had flown into town to bail out another animal rights activist who had been arrested at the rodeo the previous day for video recording.

That activist,?Adam Fahnestock, was arrested by Malheur County sheriff deputy Bob Wroten ? who happens to sit on the board of the Jordan Valley Big Loop Rodeo ? which is an obvious conflict of interest.

Nevertheless, it is a private venue and many would agree that they can create their own rules, even if it means opening it to the public for an admission price, then selectively deciding who gets to video record.

So Hindi didn?t bother arguing with them about getting kicked out. But he also didn?t bother providing identification when they asked for it because he knew they had no legal basis to do so.?He just got in his car and drove off.

But then he realized he was being followed by a Malheur County sheriff?s deputy, who pulled him over more than ten miles away from the rodeo on the basis that he had not provided identification back at the rodeo.

Anybody can see it was a bullshit traffic stop. Even the deputies themselves knew it was a bullshit traffic stop, according to a conversation between two deputies recorded on their dash cam as they pulled him over.

Hindi obtained the video through a public records request and posted it on Youtube, which you can see above. Here is a sampling of their conversation:

"I didn't want to stop the man."

"God, we're going to get sued."

'We're going to be in a world of hurt."

It's all because of that rodeo board."

"DAMMIT, I was still recording."

Call?the Malheur County Sheriff?s Department at (541) 473-5510 or email the sheriff at ?Malheur County Sheriff Brian Wolfe.

And call Malheur County District Attorney Dan Norris at (541) 473-5127 or email him at?Malheur County District Attorney Dan Norris.

Cops Caught on Camera Rummaging Through Homeowner's Bag and Car

Police officers looking for a convicted felon have been accused of violating a homeowner's constitutional rights after being caught on surveillance cameras digging through bags and searching a car without permission.

Officers had gone to the home of Jon Locke on February 5 after an arrest warrant for fraud was issued for his brother Christopher.

One officer can be seen on tape rifling through duffel bags, while another fiddles with a camera in the back yard of the home in Dallas, Texas.

Mr Locke told Dallas News that he wants an apology from Garland police department because the officers conducted a search on his property without consulting him. His brother Christopher does not live at the home.

The police department refused to comment on the matter but said that internal affairs was investigating.

Happy birthday from the police state!

Via Delaware Online:

Two Seaford police officers pulled over a Dagsboro man on the night of his 43rd birthday, fired a stun gun into his ribs and roughly handcuffed him, mistakenly believing he was someone else, according to a federal lawsuit complaining about the 2011 incident.

After the man protested that he had done nothing wrong, officers were heard laughing on a surveillance video after one suggested placing drugs in the man?s car, according to the lawsuit filed by Reginald G. Johnson. The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Wilmington last week against the city and two officers, alleges excessive force and malicious prosecution, among other charges.

[...]While Johnson was being held, officers searched his car and an officer, identified as Cpl. Aaron Mitchell, could be heard on the video saying, ?Somebody drop the dope in here.? That was followed by laughter in an apparent reference to planting drugs in the car, according to the suit.

Arizona Police Officer Caught Hiding Evidence In His Garage, Lying About It -- Keeps Job

A Tempe, Arizona police officer caught hiding evidence in his garage and lying about it will get to keep his job thanks to a ruling by Tempe police chief Tom Ryff.

Via CBS 5:

TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) - An internal investigation revealed a Tempe officer flat out wasn't doing his job. Reports show he knowingly botched 10 cases.

During the investigation, Officer Tony Trow admitted he was taking evidence home and keeping it in his garage. It was also discovered Trow put off writing a murder report for five years.

[...]An internal investigation revealed from September 2004 to March 2012, Trow stored evidence from five cases in his garage to hide his unfinished work. That included case notes, crime scene photos and even original recordings of interviews. The report from that investigation said those items had been tossed together in cardboard boxes.

It was also discovered Trow didn't write nearly a dozen reports, some dating as far back as 2007.

The report showed Trow also didn't bother to turn in the rape kit of a 17-year-old.

Not only should this cop be fired, he should be criminally charged for tampering with evidence.

Caught On Tape: Officer Sucker Punches Inmate In Face, Files Report Claiming 'Self Defense'

Chris | InformationLiberation

40-year-old Rico Palomino, a 12 year veteran corrections officer at the Cook County Jail in Illinois, claimed in his incident report an inmate "turned around abruptly" and grabbed his shirt, for which he had no choice but to act in self defense by striking the inmate with his open palm to "create a safe distance between himself and the detainee," reports NBC Chicago. The trouble is, the incident was caught on tape, and rather than show the officer was responding to being grabbed suddenly, it shows the cop casually walking up to an inmate and suddenly sucker punching him viciously in the face leaving him bleeding profusely from the mouth.

Here's how the incident went down:

Prosecutors said Palomino was working at a desk when an inmate walked by, asking Palomino where officers kept inventoried property because he wanted to get a phone number.

As the inmate continued to walk down a hallway, Palomino followed and told him to return to the lockup area.

"If you don't get back over here, I'm going to f--- you up," prosecutors alleged in a proffer.

A surveillance camera from the hallway recorded Palomino, eight inches taller and 100 pounds heavier than the inmate, striking the detainee, causing him to fall to the floor.

Prosecutors said the inmate was left bleeding from the mouth and required stitches.

The corrections officer is now being charged with a Class 3 felony, he is potentially facing 2-5 years in prison and up to a $25,000 fine. You have to wonder what the punishment would be if the shoe was on the other foot, not to mention if the officer's lies were simply accepted as fact.

Caught On Tape: Officer Threatens to Make Up Evidence After Arrest of Innocent Men

By Tracy Vedder

SEATTLE -- A Seattle police officer has been caught on tape talking about "making up" evidence while two wrongly arrested men sit in jail. It's the latest shocker uncovered by a KOMO 4 Problem Solver investigation into the Seattle Police Department's vanishing dashcam videos.

Josh Lawson and Christopher Franklin filed a claim against the city Monday for excessive force and wrongful arrest.

The two were arrested at gunpoint on November 16, 2010 and said the incident changed their lives forever.

"I thought I was gonna die," Lawson said about that night.

Franklin said it was "the most terrifying thing I've ever experienced."

Both men said they suffered facial bruises and swelling after one was kicked and the other man-handled into the pavement while being arrested. But then listen to what an officer says on an audio recording after he takes the two to holding cells: "Well, you're going to jail for robbery that's all."

You then hear Franklin ask, "for robbery?" And the officer responds, "Yeah, I'm gonna make stuff up."

Franklin believed him.

"He showed me that he has the power to do whatever he wanted that night," he said. "He has a badge, and all we can do is nothing."

Caught On Tape: Cop Sucker Punches Suspect In Back Of Head, Then Charges Him With "Assaulting A Police Officer"

Victim Suffers Permanent Brain Damage
Chris | InformationLiberation

The Montgomery Advertiser reports:

McLEAN, Va. ? A former Loudoun County sheriff's deputy is facing a federal civil rights lawsuit after a patrol car camera appeared to show him knocking out an unsuspecting target with a blow to the back of the head delivered at a full sprint.

Sterling, Va., resident Carlos Garcia filed the lawsuit last year in U.S. District Court in Alexandria, but papers were served only recently on the defendant, Terry Daniel, who resigned from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office last year.

Garcia's lawyer, Victor Glasberg, said the video ? which has been posted on YouTube ? is clear and unambiguous evidence of an unprovoked assault. It shows Garcia standing with his hands in the air next to another deputy and his back turned as Daniel approaches rapidly. Garcia collapses immediately after being struck by the deputy.

In the lawsuit, Garcia says the blow knocked him unconscious and has left him with permanent brain damage, including headaches, loss of memory and confusion.

After giving the man brain damage, the cop charged him with assaulting a police officer.
Interestingly, it was Garcia who wound up being charged following the November 2009 incident with assaulting a police officer. Court records show he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of misdemeanor battery and received a suspended sentence.
Note, the police likely intimidated him into taking a plea deal through threatening him with a felony trial. (See this article, "The Police State Abolishes the Trial" for an explanation of how this scam works.)
In the lawsuit, Glasberg writes that Garcia consistently denied assaulting anyone, but opted to plead guilty to a reduced charge with a suspended sentence to avoid a felony trial. And Glasberg said the criminal allegations are unrelated to the assault Garcia suffered; even if the incident had unfolded as police described, it would have been minutes before Daniel's attack on Garcia, Glasberg said.
How many incidents like this happen without being caught on tape?

You know, if you don't do anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about. After I was arrested, handcuffed they walked me back to the cop car, and threw me on the concrete 4-5 times bloodying my knees. Not the same as getting punched in the back of the head though. This stuff happens all the time. Some police will even kill and cover it up, not to mention plant drugs on people. Happens all the time! if you don't do anything wrong my ass, if are unjustly detained you stand an excellent chance of falling into this trap. police stop people every day on suspicion.
once the lights come on - you are at their mercy, having done nothing wrong is of no concern to them. if you don't kiss but to suit the officer , you will be framed.
overzelous undertrained armed and dangerous describes today's street cop This looks to me like another cop jacked on steroids just attacking for no apparent reason. The steroids problem with police in America is pandemic and nothing is being done about it. In fact it is being covered up.

Famous "I'm Going to Beat the F---ing Mexican Piss Out Of You" Officer Caught in Second Abuse Case

...David Rengo said he?s still haunted by the way he was treated nearly two years ago when he was arrested outside the Amber Bar in Belltown and wrongly accused of assault by Seattle police Detective Shandy Cobane.

?I was in handcuffs and both the doors were shut, and he came and opened the door and choked me, which is basically torturing me,? Rengo said. ?He just kind of put his ? took his thumb (and) collapsed my windpipe with it.?

...?The laws that govern everyone else don?t really apply to police officers because you see that they do things -- they choke people, they kick people in the face on camera ? and then nothing happens,? Rengo said. ?I?m frightened that one of those events could happen again.?

Cleveland Cops Caught On Tape Brutally Beating Suspect

by Asraa Mustufa

A jail video in Cleveland has surfaced disputing official police statements on a booking incident from last January, where the arrestee claimed police brutality.

Jalil Anderson was arrested on suspicion of driving under suspension. At the station, police say that Anderson violently struck officer Martin Lentz with his belt, hitting Lentz in the face, at which point police forcefully subdued him, and Anderson was charged with assaulting a police officer. During the pretrial, County prosecutors subpoenaed the surveillance tape but were not told that it did not exist. The assault charge was dropped in April, and Anderson pled guilty to resisting arrest. But after an inquiry by the newspaper The Plain Dealer, police released the video last week.

The video shows Anderson removing his jewelry and belt, as is customary during booking, and throwing the belt on the table. It grazes officer Lentz who then cuffs Anderson. Anderson resists and then several officers begin forcefully restraining him - a much different sequence than what Lentz filed in the police report.
