NEEDVILLE, Texas -- Mason Michalec says he loves his country but just not the government.

?I?m really tired of our government taking advantage of us,? said Michalec. ?I don?t agree with the NSA spying on us. And I don?t agree with any of those Internet laws.?

That's why he's taken a pledge of sorts to not say the Pledge of Allegiance with classmates.

?I?ve basically said it from the time I was in kindergarten to earlier this year and that?s when I decided I was done saying it.?

For the most this year, his silent protest has gone unnoticed. But on Wednesday, when a different teacher observed it for the very first time, the Needville High School sophomore ran into trouble.

?And she told me this is my classroom," said Michalec. "This is the principal?s request. You?re going to stand. And I still didn?t stand and she said she was going to write me up.?

Michalec says the principal sentenced him to two days of in school suspension, and warned that he could face more ISS if his protest continued.

USF Student Harassed by Feds for Transporting Humanitarian Aide to Syria

Khalid Shakfeh, a microbiology student at the University of South Florida, was questioned by officials with the Department of Defense (DoD) after he returned from a trip to Syria in which he helped transport and provide humanitarian materials, reported WTSP.

The 18-year old student is an American citizen born of Syrian immigrants. Shakfeh and his sister traveled with the Syrian American Council, a group that aims at supporting human rights, civil liberties and promotes a friendly relationship between Syria and the US.

During the March trip, Shakfeh said he provided basic medical supplies like gauze, Tylenol and Advil to Syrians who lacked access to basic necessities.

Upon his return, Shakfeh says he was contacted by the MacDill-based U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM), a group that specializes in synchronize planning of global operations against terrorist networks.

?What did you? What were the people there facing? What do they need and things like that?? asked SOCOM officials.

Shakfeh told officials that he could provide them the ?best? and ?most clear? answers if they submitted their questions in writing. SOCOM failed to submit to his request.

A few days later officials sought after Shakfeh again, this time at his father?s medical practice. The American student stood his ground again telling the DoD officials that he would submit his answers if they provided him the questions in writing. The DoD declined and Shakfeh says he hasn?t heard from them since.

?The FBI and other government agencies actively targeting us just to harass? a means of harassment,? Shakfeh said.

Spokesperson for the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Hassan Shibly, said he?s seen patterns of the US government targeting people based on their background, color, and religion, questioning and harassing them without cause.

He calls the behavior by the DoD ?un-American and unacceptable.?

The fact the US government has been targeting US Syrian immigrants for some time now, illustrates the US?s perception of the relationship between the two countries.

As of Friday, the US announced no specific plans on how they intend to move forward on the Syrian conflict, but has moved a sixth warship into the Mediterranean as a ?precaution.?

The US currently has six warships in place, with reportedly five destroyers each carrying an estimated three dozen or more Tomahawk missiles for a combined total of about 200 missiles, according to a Reuters report.

Honors Student & Eagle Scout Charged with Felony and Expelled After Accidentally Leaving Shotgun in Truck

According to Todd Starnes of Fox News, Cole Withrow, an Eagle Scout, honors student, and active church member has had his life turned upside down.

The trouble began when Withrow discovered he had accidentally left his shotgun in his truck once he arrived at school. He had been skeet shooting with some friends the day before.

Withrow tried to immediately call his mother to come and pick up the firearm, but he was overheard by a school official.

Withrow told officials the truth about what happened. Then he was arrested and immediately and permanently expelled from school.

High School Student Faces 20 Years For Obama Facebook Threat

But not one Obama supporter faced jail for threatening to assassinate Mitt Romney

High school teen Cameron D'Ambrosio was arrested on terror charges and faces up to 20 years in prison for a Facebook post in which he made threats against the White House and mentioned the Boston bombings.

"He posted a threat in the form of rap where he mentioned the White House, the Boston Marathon bombing, and said 'everybody you will see what I am going to do, kill people," Methuen Police Chief Joe Solomon?told the Valley Patriot.

In addition to the threats made against the White House, D'Ambrosio also posted a ?Wanted: Dead or Alive? poster of himself and made remarks such as "Fuck politics, Fuck Obama and Fuck the government!!"

D'Ambrosio was arrested after another student brought the Facebook post to the attention of school administrators, who immediately contacted police.

"I do want to make clear he did not make a specific threat against the school or any particular individuals but he did threaten to kill a bunch of people and specifically mentioned the Boston Marathon and the White House. The threat was disturbing enough for us to act and I think our officers did the right thing," said Solomon.

According to Solomon, D'Ambrosio faces up to 20 years in prison for making terroristic threats under MGL. Ch. 269, Section 14. His bail has been set at $1 million dollars.

While no one can excuse the threats made by D'Ambrosio, the case underscores how authorities are increasingly focusing on social media in an attempt to track down violent rhetoric.

But while D'Ambrosio faces 20 years in jail for threatening Obama, not a single Obama supporter who threatened to assassinate Mitt Romney during the 2012 election campaign was charged with any kind of felony.

As we?documented at the time, hundreds of Obama voters took to Twitter to make violent threats against Romney and his supporters with little response from the authorities.

The video below, taken from D'Ambrosio's YouTube channel, illustrates the amateur nature of his work and how his threats were more likely the product of a bored teenager rather than a terrorist mastermind.

Soon all hell will break loose, even young people are fed up with this cuntries bullshit and who can blame any patriot. Our government is not for the people any more than the elected ass clowns of our counties , cities and fucking no good states are for us they are in fact for whoever hands them money to do the devil's bidding. Fucking scum. Just goes to show the level to which free speech has been suppressed in the U.S.A. I thank my lucky stars that my nation(Canada) isn't quite so screwed up yet. While it is a federal offense to make threats against a President in America, though I could do so with impunity here. In Canada the intended victim of a threat must be reasonably afraid that such threat could be carried out for it to be a crime. A non-specific threat of killing unnamed people by definition cannot reasonably be perceived by a specific person as being a credible threat.

I am surprised that Eminem hasn't been hunted down by the American Gestapo for his rap lyrics, guess he is just another one of the privileged one-percenters.

The kid is an idiot for even threatening it. This article sounds like your apologizing for his stupidity.

Federal Appeals Court Upholds Practice of Mass Student Searches & Random Lockdowns by Police & Drug-Sniffing Dogs in Missouri High School

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.? In a ruling issued by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit in Burlison v. Springfield Public Schools, the court deemed a Missouri school district?s policy of imposing a ?lockdown? of the school for the purpose of allowing the local sheriff?s department, aided by drug-sniffing dogs, to perform mass inspections of students? belongings to be a ?reasonable procedure to maintain the safety and security of students at the school,? and not a violation of the Fourth Amendment rights of students.

Attorneys for The Rutherford Institute had challenged the school district?s practice of conducting random lockdowns and mass searches of students. Institute attorneys had asked the appeals court to reverse a federal district court?s January 2012 ruling that Springfield Public Schools and the Greene County Sheriff?s Office did not violate the Fourth Amendment rights of students when they executed the April 2010 lockdown at Central High School.

?Random, suspicionless lockdown raids against children teach our children a horrific lesson?one that goes against every fundamental principle this country was founded upon?that we have no rights at all against the police state,? said John W. Whitehead, president of The Rutherford Institute. ?Americans should be outraged over the fact that school officials are not only defending such clearly unconstitutional practices but are actually going so far as to insist that these raids are a ?standard drill? that will continue.?

On April 22, 2010, the principal of Central High School announced over the public address system that the school was going into ?lockdown? and that students were prohibited from leaving their classrooms. School officials and agents of the Greene County Sheriff?s Department thereafter ordered students to leave all personal belongings behind and exit the classrooms. Dogs were also brought in to assist in the raid. Upon re-entering the classrooms, students allegedly discovered that their belongings had been rummaged through. Mellony and Doug Burlison, who had two children attending Central High School, complained to school officials that the lockdown and search were a violation of their children?s rights. School officials allegedly responded by insisting that the search was a ?standard drill? and policy of the school district which would continue.

Attorneys for The Rutherford Institute sued the school district in September 2010 on behalf of the Burlisons and their two children, asking the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri to declare that the practice of effecting a lockdown of the school and conducting random, suspicionless seizures and searches violates the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and the similar provision of the Missouri Constitution. In its January 2012 decision, the district court declared that the random lockdown and mass searches did not violate students? rights. In its ruling issued March 4, 2013, the Court of Appeals affirmed the judgment, holding that the school?s interest in combatting drug use outweighed the privacy rights of students. Affiliate attorney Jason T. Umbarger of Springfield, Mo., is assisting The Rutherford Institute in its defense of the Burlison family.

Undercover Cops Ensnare a Special Ed Student, Get Him Expelled

The parents of an autistic student accused of selling marijuana last year to an undercover deputy have prevailed in their effort to have the teen reinstated at the Temecula high school.
An administrative law judge who heard the special education student?s case issued a scathing ruling against the Temecula Valley Unified School District Friday, March 8. Judge Marian H. Tully wrote the district left the student ?to fend for himself, anxious and alone, against an undercover police officer? and said the parents had ?overwhelmingly demonstrated? that the teen?s behavior with the deputy was significantly influenced by his disability.
An Office of Administrative Hearings judge who heard the case challenging a move to expel the special education student, Tully found that the district failed to provide the teen with required counseling and other services while knowingly exposing the teen to the deputy.
Dealing with pressure from the officer was a challenging social situation that ?would have been difficult even for typical high school students,? the judge wrote.

Ohio Police Claim 17-Yr-Old Pot Dealing High School Student A Drug "Kingpin"

First off, if what police claim in this case is true, this young man is a brilliant entrepreneur who should be celebrated. Second, if police consider finding a high school student who amassed a measly $6,000 in cash a drug "kingpin," they're a complete laughingstock joke.

Via ABC News: Ohio High School Kingpin Arrested in Major Drug Bust:

Ohio police have arrested an alleged drug kingpin, a 17-year-old accused of running a multimillion dollar ring that distributed high-grade marijuana through two school districts and netted $20,000 a month.
When cops raided the boy's bedroom at his parents' home, they found over $6,000 in cash, prosecutors said.
Authorities have not released the student's name, because he was a 16-year-old minor at the time he committed the alleged drug deals. Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell said the boy will be tried as juvenile.
Cops first became aware of a high-grade hydroponic strain of marijuana being sold for $350-$400 an ounce in the Mason school district near Cincinnati last year. An undercover agent began making buys at Mason High School, where the teenager was a student, and uncovered a dealing operation headed by the arrested student.
"The undercover officer uncovered six students or former students working for that individual and trafficking drugs in two school districts," Fornshell told ABC News.
"The group supplied an overwhelming amount of marijuana in the Mason and King school districts," Fornshell said.

The story goes on to detail how the student narced on his suppliers, six other adults were arrested and police allegedly found three grow houses where 600 plants were seized "with an estimated street value of $3 million."

Such "street value estimates" are always comically overinflated, regardless what we know for sure is the price of pot in the area is going to be higher as a result of this bust and that will create even more incentive for others to traffic in the harmless plant.

"...the boy will be tried as [a] juvenile". Of course. One law for some, a different law for others. Is that what they call "equal protection"? this kid couldn't be a drug kingpin in a free nation where the law doesn't control what a man ingests. the police and the lawmakers they encourage made these laws that, made this kid rich. ,,,and there's many more like him. The only way to keep pot out of the hands of kids is to legalize or decriminalize it.

UK Decides Hollywood, US Gov't's Interests More Important Than Own Citizens; Extradites Student For Linking

In January, a judge said that the UK could extradite student Richard O'Dwyer to the US to face criminal copyright infringement charges for the "crime" of linking to streaming videos hosted elsewhere -- something that had already been found legal in the UK multiple times. This is pretty important, because for it to be criminal infringement, it has to be willful, and if sites that were nearly identical to O'Dwyer's TVShack.net were found legal in his home country, where he lived and where he operated the site, it's difficult to see how there's anything willful at all.

Furthermore, since he's only linking there isn't direct infringement, only the possibility of secondary infringement. Now, there are aiding and abetting laws, but it would have to be aiding and abetting of criminal copyright infringement and that would require the users of TVShack to be guilty of criminal infringement -- meaning that they were profiting from willful infringement. And that doesn't seem likely either. There are so many holes in the case it's difficult to understand why ICE and DHS are ruining the life of a UK student with no clear legal basis.

Either way, as the UK government continues to kowtow to the US entertainment industry, the Secretary of State has taken the court's initial okay and approved the extradition. This is really damning for the UK government. Given the growing concerns about the overreach of the entertainment industry to take away basic freedoms, sending Richard O'Dwyer across the Atlantic on bogus charges just so the MPAA can stick his head on a pike somewhere isn't going to go over very well.

This tame Facebook comment got a 19-year-old student arrested in the United Kingdom.

Azhar Ahmed, 19, is said to have posted the comments on his profile page and has been charged with a racially aggravated public order offence.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said Ahmed, of Fir Avenue, Ravensthorpe, was criticising the level of attention the British soldiers who died in a bomb blast received compared to Afghan civilians who have died in the war.
The spokesman said: "He didn't make his point very well and that is why he has landed himself in bother."

What point is made by arresting someone for exercising free speech?

I always did suspect soldiers are a race different from
the real human race .. His English could use some work but it's clear there is nothing to the police charges. Britgov simply wants to make an example of a moral man speaking his peace.

US troops and their proxies are murdering middle eastern civilians. Missile drone drivers and their chain-of-command are murdering middle eastern civilians. A berzerker crew murdered middle eastern civilians. Western politicians are murdering middle eastern civilians.

Their is no difference, *none*, in any of the above groups. They all deserve to be put on trial for crimes-against-humanity.

How an Attractive, Undercover Cop Posed as a Student -- Then Entrapped a Smitten Teen to "Sell" Her Marijuana

After spending weeks sharing stories about his life, texting and flirting, one 18-year-old honor student fell in love with the cop who busted him.

Working at the Drug Policy Alliance for the last twelve years I have read and heard countless stories of people having their lives ruined because of our country's cruel war on drugs. Last weekend, the nationally syndicated show This American Life highlighted a story that is so insane, you don't know whether to laugh or puke.

Last year in three high schools in Florida, several undercover police officers posed as students. The undercover cops went to classes, became Facebook friends and flirted with the other students. One 18-year-old honor student named Justin fell in love with an attractive 25-year-old undercover cop after spending weeks sharing stories about their lives, texting and flirting with each other.

One day she asked Justin if he smoked pot. Even though he didn't smoke marijuana, the love-struck teen promised to help find some for her. Every couple of days she would text him asking if he had the marijuana. Finally, Justin was able to get it to her. She tried to give him $25 for the marijuana and he said he didn't want the money -- he got it for her as a present.

A short while later, the police did a big sweep and arrest 31 students -- including Justin. Almost all were charged with selling a small amount of marijuana to the undercover cops. Now Justin has a felony hanging over his head.

This story is not unique to Florida and it reminds me of an 18-year-old Mitchell Lawrence, a young man from Great Barrington, Mass., who served two years in jail for selling a joint to an undercover cop. The officer befriended Lawrence and his friends and would hang out with them. One day the cop asked if Lawrence had any weed. Lawrence gave the cop a joint. The cop handed him $20. Lawrence hesitated, but the cop insisted on giving him the money. "Selling" the joint, because they were hanging out less than a 1000 feet from a school, and thus was considered a "drug free school zone," carried a mandatory minimum two-year sentence.

The drug war is sick. How much money was wasted by our law enforcement to get these few bags of marijuana "off the streets"? How do these cops look themselves in the mirror? Seducing 18-year-olds to fall in love or pretending to be friends and then tricking them into procuring small amounts of marijuana so they can charge them with felonies is beyond slimy and diametrically opposed to the officers' charge to "serve and protect."

We often hear that we need to fight the drug war to protect the kids. As these despicable examples show, more often the drug war is ruining young people's lives and doing more harm than good.

Proof that the war on drugs is immoral and evil. this is what we are paying these assholes to do - reality check The corporate-owned prison industrial complex pays a lot of money for lobbyists to ensure the drug laws are severe and strict in the US. They profit from these laws.

If you don't do anything wrong, and follow the law, you will have nothing to worry about.

To the person stating "don't do anything wrong and you won't have anything to worry about". You are just another blind American citizen that will sit by and let Americans be stripped of all of our rights! I have a question for you what about citizens that follow state law and grow, use, and distribute marijuana legally by their state law then are thrown in prison by the Federal government? See your method don't work as well as you may think. Bottom line is we need to relax on the drugs and concentrate on getting our act together as a country. We are in way too deep with our countrys debt to be throwing money away on putting people in prison for a little bag if pot. I think we should have a more relaxed laws on any substance that is naturally grown and used by people for example marijuana, mushrooms, etc not only would you see a dramatic decrease in users of non natural drugs such as meth you would free up money to have more assistance for rehab, counseling, etc. Fact is if people are going to use people are going to use plain and simple, you can even take it away they will find another way. NOTE TO SHEOPLE: Cops can lie, cheat, steal and even murder and its OK as long as they get their man.

No, really, thats not an inflamed statement, just fact.

The United States Federal Corporation has become an evil beast. It is sick and dying but in its death throws is all kinds of destruction. State out of its way.

War on drugs, ha! Its a war for money or war for support or war for control. Call it what it is.

Governments lie and the United States Federal Corporation is the biggest and the best at it.

Justice Department Backs RIAA Against Pirating Student

The Department of Justice has filed a brief siding with the RIAA in its civil case against the file-sharing student Joel Tenenbaum.The RIAA is protesting a demand from the student?s legal team, who want the court to reduce the massive $675,000 fine on due process grounds, to the minimum statutory damages of $750 per song.

More than half a decade ago, the RIAA sued tens of thousands of alleged file-sharers. While the music group settled with the majority for a few thousand dollars each, student Joel Tenenbaum chose to put up a fight.

As of today, the case is still ongoing.

In 2009, a jury found Tenenbaum guilty of ?willful infringement? and awarded damages mounting to $675,000. A year later this amount was reduced by 90% when Judge Nancy Gertner ruled that the penalty was excessive and unconstitutional. In 2011 this decision that was reversed after a new hearing at the Court of Appeals.

In yet another appeal, Tenenbaum?s legal team, headed by Harvard law professor Charles Nesson, is asking the court to reduce the $22,500 fine per song to the minimum statutory damages of $750 per song. This request is made on due process grounds.

As expected, the RIAA doesn?t agree with the request and presented its arguments to the court last Friday. But they were not alone ? on the same day the Department of Justice also filed a brief with the court, backing the RIAA?s vision on the case.

In a 26-page filing the Department of Justice makes the argument that previous cases, as cited by Tenenbaum?s legal team, do not apply in this instance. It concludes that the due process grounds are not relevant yet and that the damages therefore shouldn?t be reduced before the case continues.

The due process question should only be answered when the court decides that the jury?s award of $22,500 per song is not excessive, according to the Departement of Justice.

?The only circumstance in which the Court can reach Defendant?s due process challenge at this time is if the Court first determines the jury?s statutory damages award is not excessive under the common law remittitur standard. The United States, therefore, does not believe it is necessary at this juncture to address the merits of Defendant?s constitutional claim,? the DoJ writes.

Although this is not the first time the Justice Department has become involved in an RIAA civil case, it remains unclear why they chose to intervene this time. What we do know is that the authorities are very up-to-date with the legal proceedings, as five former RIAA lawyers are now employed by the Department of Justice.

Whether these connections between the Justice Department and the RIAA have increased the likelihood of the authorities getting involved is hard to say. However, it is clear that Tenenbaum and his legal team are up against some serious resistance, and that the US authorities don?t want the student to get off that easily..
