NYPD 'Slowdown' Saves Taxpayers $10M A Week In Parking Ticket Fines

The New York Post is reporting the NYPD's slowdown in issuing parking tickets is "costing the city $10m a week in revenue."

From the perspective of the state's tax-victims, that means taxpayers are saving $10m a week.

The New York Post reports:

The city is losing about $10 million per week on parking ticket revenue because of the NYPD work slowdown, according to budget watchdog estimates.

There were just 1,191 parking summonses handed out between Dec. 29 and Jan. 4 ? down nearly 93 percent from the same period last year, when 16,008 of the dreaded orange envelopes were slapped on windshields.

Based on the weekly average ticket take of $10.5 million in fiscal 2014, the Citizens Budget Commission estimated the reduction could have bled about $10 million from city coffers.

And that doesn?t include other revenue losses from similar reductions in moving violations and court summonses during the slowdown, which is now in its third week.

?While losing $10-$11 million in a week is real money, in the context of the city?s $77 billion annual budget it?s a very small amount,? said Doug Turetsky, of the Independent Budget Office. ?But if the losses continue over weeks and months, the effect on the budget becomes more substantial.?

If you do the math, the state is looting people for $546m a year from parking tickets alone. The fact this is meager considering the city's budget is just further evidence how insanely large their budget is.

I covered the other day how New York police working for the port authority are making over $300,000 a year, that money doesn't materialize out of thin air, it has to be stolen from the general public before they can gorge on it.

This police "slowdown" is the best thing that has happened to New York taxpayers in ages, may it continue in perpetuity until all the cops and the bureaucrats they serve are out of work.

The police are doing the people a favor with this slowdown. 9 billion dollars state wide, is collected in fines each year in new york,one can only wonder how much fine money is collected in the whole country. Big change is coming, and coming very soon.

LAPD Cancels Bike-Path Ticket "In the Interest of Justice" After Video Goes Viral

After a YouTube video of an LAPD officer pulling over and ticketing a bicyclist with little cause on the Venice Beach bike path went viral, the ticket was canceled and the officer's conduct is under investigation.

In the 10-minute clip, a cyclist turns on his helmet camera and records the interaction, which drew a handful of onlookers who protested that the cyclist had done nothing wrong and that the officer needed to address serious crime in Venice.

The bicyclist, who identifies himself at 34-year-old Chris Jackson of Venice, was posted after Thanksgiving weekend, when he was ticketed for speeding after telling a motorcycle officer was blocking the popular bike-only path.

On Friday, Detective Gus Villanueva of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section said that the "ticket had been canceled in the interest of justice." The department is conducing a personnel investigation into the conduct of the officer involved and would not comment further, Villanueva said.

in the interest of justice.why am I laughing so hard? Good because it horseshit that law can impede pedestrian traffic and then threaten, intimidate and flat-out lie straight to citizens faces all while we get it on film right in front of their very eyes! This is why they want to take away our video recording rights because so many of us are right and they fucking know it! Police ticket 11-year-old boy hit by car

TEXAS CITY ? Noah Popovich, 11, and his friends were walking to school last week when he was struck from behind by a passing SUV. After police were called to investigate, Popovich, who suffered injuries that kept him from school for a week, was issued a ticket for walking on the wrong side of the road.

The citation outraged Popovich?s mother, Ashley Falks, who thinks her son not only didn?t deserve the ticket, but that the 18-year-old driver who struck him should face a harsher punishment. The woman driving the vehicle that hit Popovich was cited for driving with an expired driver?s license, Texas City Police said.

[...]?I had no idea what had happened to him, but when he got home, that?s when we called police,? Falks said.

Police came out, and after questioning the driver and Popovich, they returned Sunday. That?s when, to Falks? astonishment, her son was ticketed for walking on the wrong side of the road.

?I couldn?t believe my son was the one ticketed when he was the one injured,? Falks said.

I'm pretty sure there's laws about hitting pedestrians with your car. Stopping and asking if they are alright doesn't let you off the hook for leaving the scene of an accident, hitting a pedestrian - a minor, no less - and not reporting the accident! Pretty sure those are all violations of several traffic laws.
